In 2011, Dublin was seen like never before! Close to 500 racers took on the city using bikes, kayaks, running/orienteering through some of our most famous landmarks before abseiling from the roof of the Aviva Stadium to cap off an adrenaline fuelled and incredibly fun day.
Adventure racing has arrived to Dublin! Ever imagined what it would be like to do a ROAR, WAR or Gaelforce in the city?
DARE is a challenging adventure race using the city as the adventure playground. Biking, running, kayaking, abseiling are just some of what DARE will involve as you will be taken all over the city, discovering how epic Dublin really can be.
An abseil from the Aviva Stadium is one of the highlights of the challenge and you will be given short and long course options to cater for whatever level you dare to do! There is also the Adrenaline Hunt option for those who do not fancy biking or kayaking and who want to just race on foot and abseil!
In teams of two or three or solo, the race kicks off at Sandymount Green, Dublin 4 with a bike section, which will take you along beaches, canal paths and into parks with a tricky assault course to master in between! Competitors will then take on the kayaking section of the challenge before changing to their runners to complete a “street orienteering” section where they will pick up points for every checkpoint reached. Some checkpoints will include challenges, some checkpoints will be in iconic Dublin locations and some will require you to use your brain rather than your brawn! Capping it all off is an awesome abseil from Dublin’s most impessive building! Then it is back to the Sandymount Green to complete an epic day of urban adventure. Each team member and individual will complete all of the challenges in a continuous race.
